Shortage visa (subclass 482)
The 457 visa was abolished as of March 2018 and is replaced by the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Subclass 482 visa
The TSS visa is a temporary visa which permits the holder to live in Australia, while working full-time for the sponsoring employer in the nominated position. Applicants for a TSS visa may include dependent family members in their application. Designed to fill gaps in the Australian labour market, the visa has a short-term stream, a medium to long-term stream.
If your occupation is on the Short-Term Skilled Occupations List (STSOL) you may be eligible for a visa of up to two years (renewable onshore once, for a further two years), while those on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) or the Regional Occupation List (ROL) can apply for up to four years (with eligibility for permanent residency after three years, depending on whether you meet age and English requirements)
